Walmer and Deal were honoured to welcome His Majesty The King to Kent on Thursday 10 July for a day that celebrated heritage, community, and service.
The visit began at the historic Walmer Castle, where His Majesty was welcomed by the Lord Warden and met representatives from the fourteen coastal towns that make up the Confederation of Cinque Ports.
His Majesty then visited the beautifully restored Captain’s Garden at Deal Castle – a community-led project that has transformed the space into a wildlife-friendly haven for both residents and visitors.
The day continued with a visit to Walmer RNLI Lifeboat Station, followed by a beach clean along the seafront, underlining His Majesty’s ongoing commitment to the environment.
To mark this special occasion, the Royal Marines Band gave a stirring performance, delighting all those who had gathered to share in this memorable day.
The Kent Lieutenancy expressed its pride in welcoming His Majesty and reflected on a visit that showcased the strength of community spirit in Walmer and Deal.
